Who will I work for, and what will I do?
Established in 1996, its core business concentrates on providing bill payment services - primarily to the public sector - and handles £ 5 billion a year across 50 million transactions. Your role as an Apprentice IT Technician, will involve:
* Exposure to computers and IT systems at a level which allows both competent usage and of systems and efficient fault finding. * Installation of operating systems - manually and with imaging tools * Installation of software and applications onto PC`s, laptops and devices. * Installing hardware components into PC`s- RAM, Graphics cards, VGA/ DVI adapters etc. * Using case management tools, team working and time management. * Fault finding techniques. * Checking for Network connectivity. * Understanding and Applying IP addresses, Subnet masks * Remote access software administration * Connecting and configuration of PC`s onto a desktop location. * Activating and managing user licences. * Effective questioning and troubleshooting techniques. * Good customer relation abilities and an ability to work to resolve technical issues with non-technical members of staff * Service level agreements - prioritisation of work. * Development of documentation. Technical writing and constructing proposal of solutions. * Daily, weekly and periodic checks. The benefits and criticality of them. * Recording achievements and Personal Development.
What training will I receive?
Firebrand offers a unique Advanced Level 3 IT Apprenticeship that provides award-winning industry training and certifications, valuable work experience and offers on-going support all with the ultimate goal of securing you a long-term career within the world of technology. During your 12 month IT apprenticeship programme, Firebrand will provide you with five weeks of intensive training at our state-of-the-art training centre. Our method of accelerated training allows you to achieve industry-recognised certifications from Microsoft and CompTIA faster, giving you more time to put your new skills in to practice within a working environment. Firebrand will also provide you with a Mentor who will be supporting, assessing and assisting you with your development whilst you are in the workplace.
What experience do I need?
You will have proven communication skills paired with solid technical knowledge gained through either school/college, work experience, voluntary employment or self-taught. Whilst a strong interest in technology paired with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly and easily is important, our emphasis will be more on your personality, drive, and communication skills. You will need to balance many demands so being able to multi-task in a fun but intensive environment where issue prioritisation is a critical skill. Finally, you will have a GCSE/A Level of at least A*- C (or equivalent) in Maths, English and ICT.
