Our client is a FTSE 250 company which is one of the UK's leading engineering support services organisations. They deliver critical asset support to many sectors including marine engineering and ship building, transport, energy, defence, telecommunications and education.

The jobs:

We are looking for experienced Marine Mechanical or Marine Electrical Engineers who have design experience for posts in Rosyth, Tyneside, Aberdeen and Devonshire. Opportunities exist at various levels including senior posts at Principal and Chief Engineer grades. Tasking involves working in new build or in-depth refit programmes in the commercial (ships, FPSOs and oil & gas structures) and defence sectors. (These posts are not for those purely involved in routine maintenance activities).

Post holders should have:

• Experience of ship (commercial or defence), FPSO and offshore oil & gas structures design and construction support in a new build or refit/repair environment
• A sound professional marine systems design engineering background with a proven track record
• Experience in ship power plant and machinery/systems integration such as engines, gearboxes, shafting, generators, steering, domestic services and electrical distribution
• Knowledge of classification society rules & flag state regulations

Electrical System Engineer posts require experience of:

• All aspects of Ships Electrical Systems, specialising in the production of System Block Diagrams from ships specifications and sub contractors information including Control & Instrumentation and power requirements.
• Production of load balance calculations, lighting calculations, short circuit calculations etc
• Production of detailed schematic and wiring diagrams for a wide range of electrical systems.

Qualifications:

• A Degree in Marine Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (HNC/HND with significant relevant experience of design is acceptable)
• Membership of a relevant professional institution is desirable
• 15 years experience required for senior posts

Applicants should be British or EU citizens (ideally who have lived in the UK for the last 5 years) and either possess or be willing to undergo UK Defence Security clearance.
