Database administration and creation, including overnight standby. Reporting to Database Administration Team Leader and based in Logica Offices, Bridgend.
Main tasks and Objectives:-
• Provide ongoing Database Administration service as defined in customer contracts. This typically comprises:
• DBMS Support including Schema Management, Storage Management
• Performance Monitoring and Tuning
• Formulating and operating backup/recovery strategies
• Technical advice and guidance
• Prepare monthly reports on progress for the Database Administration Team
Key Deliverables:-
• Regular reports to the Database Administration Team Leader on progress and issues relating to the Database Administration Service provided to fulfil Customer Contracts.
• Monitoring Reports and Alert Logs illustrating the proactive management of customer databases.
• Technical Audit/Status reports identifying technical issues to be discussed with the client

Essential Skills Required
SQL Server DBA 2yrs+
Versions 2000, 2005 and 2008
Database Replication
Windows 2000, 2003 and 2008 knowledge
*Desirable Skills Required
Windows Cluster Admin
SQL Profiler and Performance Tuning skills
SQL Server Integration, Analysis, Reporting Service knowledge
Other Information:-
The candidate should be willing to join Overnight Standby rota and be available for Out-of-hours changes.
