ICT Technician Job, Well Thought of Secondary School in Cardiff

Your new School
This High School is an English medium, 11-18 mixed community school serving residential areas on the western side of Cardiff. The school has around 700 pupils on roll, including 150 in the sixth form. Senior leaders and other staff throughout the school have worked well to maintain a positive and caring culture in the school. This inclusive community and caring ethos is supported well by all staff. There is a clear emphasis on recognising, respecting and celebrating diversity.

Your new role
You will play an essential role in ensuring the successful running of all ICT hardware, software & networks throughout the school site. You will provide face-to-face technical maintenance and advice to all personnel & pupils of the school.

What you'll need to succeed

Essential
* Awareness of what interests young people in ICT and how they acquire skills
* The ability to liaise with internet service providers and other suppliers or
contractors in relation to routine matters and fixing simple faults
* Good knowledge of the world wide web and the basic range of functions on
browsers
* Knowledge of software and network integrity and security
* The ability to install, test and maintain hardware and software for networks
and stand-alone use
* The ability to manage maintenance and repair procedures
* A willingness to undertake further training and professional development

Desirable
* Previous experience of working in an educational environment
* Ability to provide in-service training to colleagues
* Ability to evaluate the software used in the classroom
* Familiarity with the main features of the common operating system
* The ability to solve problems and make decisions

What you'll get in return
This is an opportunity to obtain a permanent role located close by to the city centre. The school has a very well established Senior Leadership Team. You will initially be offered an initial pay rate of £10.00 per hour.
