Blue chip company require a Lead Network Engineer to join the business

Your new role
  • Principal Responsibilities: The Engineer on the Network Optimization Team is responsible for execution of all network projects and network requests within this group's portfolio of work which includes:
  • Consult with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Be on rotation support for ongoing Disaster Recovery Tests. This would require evening and weekend
  • Lead/execute project delivery for implementation of network designs; manage self and (as required) others' delivery of work against budget and timeline requirements.
  • Create as-built documentation.
  • Develop, conduct and facilitate transition to operations, providing subject matter expertise in an educational manner.
  • Collaborate with peers to improve the overall team delivery of network engineering services.
  • Follow the processes and methodologies for delivering projects.
  • Work closely with all project stakeholder groups to coordinate the project milestones.
  • Understand and translate cross-team dependencies into actionable plans.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks. Plan for an effective risk mitigation.
  • Track projects against approved budgets and report on forecasts and variances.
  • Support the iterative business planning process.
  • Resolve issues in a timely manner. Demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Be on the rotational list for London specific location and operational vendor needs. Needed less than quarterly, but need could be in the evening or on a weekend. Could include working with vendors and test solutions post-changes.


What you'll need to succeed
  • Must have strong, demonstrable experience in enterprise-class and/or carrier-class environments performing network engineering, design, and implementation.
  • Must have strong, demonstrable experience with Wide Area Networking, routing and routed protocols, and network services such as WAN optimization, load balancing, and network security.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with converged data center technologies (e.g., VCE Vblock, Cisco FlexPod/UCS)
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience engineering storage and virtualization technologies - preference for experience in converged data center environments
  • Recent experience with Network Function Virtualization, Software Defined Networking, and/or e-Orchestration strongly preferred.
  • Certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, CCDP, VCP, EMCIE, EMCTA, etc. are given a preference
