Production Operative fixed term

Production Operative – Fixed Term (working shifts including nights - starting immediately)

The Ice Cat Wyre Dock, Fleetwood have an opportunity for fixed term roles in our bagged ice production environment. These summer roles will be an important part of the production team for The Ice Co, Europe’s largest manufacturer of ice products.

The Production Operative is responsible for producing a range of ice products to industry leading standards.  The environment is semi-automated and will require candidates to be multi skilled in different tasks within the factory

This is a fixed term role which is expected to last next 6 weeks until the end of July with a possibility of the fixed term being extended into August. This role could be a fantastic opportunity for someone with production experience to work over the Summer period.

The role is based at our semi-automated production site in Fleetwood, Lancashire.  This site is just off the A585 Amounderness Way in Fleetwood and is a short walk from local tram and bus stops

Overtime is a regular requirement and working hours do change based on volumes. Nights shifts will be required. Flexibility regarding working hours is fundamental expectation of the role.

This work can be strenuous and regularly involves lifting cases and bags of bagged ice, so applicants must be in good physical condition with no back or mobility problems.  The product to be lifted may weigh up to 20kg.

  • Hourly rate of pay £7.50 per hour (40 hours per week)

  • 7 paid holiday shifts over the 3 monthfixed term (equivalent to 28 per year incbank holidays)

  • Working rotating shifts (6am to 2pm or 2pm to 10pm or 10pm to 6am) Monday to Friday
  • Saturday overtime may also be required
  • Immediate start available

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a varied range of production tasks including ensuring the production system always has sufficient pallets and safely and hygienically change rolls of film.
  • To ensure all machinery is running correctly, and report any issues to the Supervisor
  • To pack bagged ice into boxes and palletise ready for despatch.
  • Correctly build and despatch orders ensuring that paperwork is clear and concise, pallets are correctly labelled, and delivery paperwork is reconciled
  • Support and deliver food safety and health & safety standards.
  • Assist other team members to achieve the operational objectives
  • Work to the highest quality standards, working safely and ensuring a safe working environment

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a fast-moving production environment is essential
  • Must be in good physical condition with no back or mobility problems
  • Applicants must be aged over 18 due to shifts and working hours
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Self-motivated, punctual and reliable
  • Enthusiastic Team Player
  • Possess the desire to go the extra mile to help the business deliver stretching and ambitious targets
  • Flexible to work additional hours
  • Willing to help colleagues

Desirable Requirements

  • Valid Food Safety or First Aid certificate
