Technical Analyst

The E&P Special Projects team are in place to deliver bespoke solutions to clients analytical and process optimisation needs, through provision of equipment hardware, Consultancy support and where applicable, the effective use of a suite of proprietary chemometric software packages.

The Technical Analyst’s primary focus is to actively support the Special Projects team in the development and maintenance of software solutions.  The job involves providing technical input, analysis and support as required in the delivery of projects.  There is a requirement to assist with client visits and to generally promote the activities and services of the company with potential clients.  Key tasks include:

  •  Defining, designing, developing and delivering novel solutions and functionality within technical projects and Intertek software products across multiple software platforms
  • Assessing, analysing and implementing statistical methods and Chemometric modelling   
  • Maintaining functionality of existing Intertek software projects including legacy codebases 
  • Monitoring project timelines 
  • Liaising with Senior Management and laboratory colleagues for specific projects
  • Providing technical assistance and expertise in the preparation of bids and general project management activities

 Job Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/qualifications:

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Information Technology, Maths, Science or related discipline 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Information Technology role 
  • Proficient in the development of Java, VB(A), or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Understanding of design patterns, code documentation, and writing comprehensible code
  • Understanding of build and versioning tools 
  • Experience with design of and querying relational databases such as SQL etc
  • Experience with structuring, storing and cleansing data
  • Experience with scientific statistical modelling, large scale data analysis, and machine learning within statistical environments such as Excel, R, Matlab, SAS, etc 
  • Communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team building skills sufficient to lead projects
  • Demonstrable ability to develop solutions
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Willing to be “hands on” working at all levels
  • Good problem identification and solving skills
  • Have commercial acumen and ability to negotiate with clients and suppliers
  • Exceptional customer focus
